Vision 2.6 Elevates the Standard for ASC Management Software

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – November 3, 2008 – In close collaboration with customers, SourceMedical today announced a significant advancement of its Vision software. With the introduction of Vision 2.6, SourceMedical is further elevating the standard for Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) management software through expanded application features; a fully embedded electronic health record designed specifically to meet the needs of ASCs; broader operating system platform support; and a host of additional feature enhancements designed to help ASCs manage their facility’s day-to-day operations as well as meet their strategic planning needs.  The adoption of Vision 2.6 will result in greater productivity, reduced costs and improved patient care.

SourceMedical customers can now seamlessly integrate their clinical data (from Vision EHR) and all administrative data (from Vision) into a central repository.  This single database offers the industry’s only electronic health record providing customers with a consistent workflow within a core ASC application, without having to purchase additional middleware or interface software. In addition to a consistent interface, security permissions, user roles and all other application preferences are managed from within this single Vision 2.6 application.

With the introduction of Vision 2.6 SourceMedical is providing ASCs with an upgrade to the Microsoft .NET framework to enable full support of Microsoft’s Vista operating system for Vision. Also included within the platform upgrades is support for 64-bit servers which will enable Vision customers to scale their databases for larger operations while achieving greater performance levels. Vision 2.6 customers are also provided with an upgrade to the Caché 5.2 Database Management System which offers increased scalability, performance and security.
 
Seamless access to two new SourcePlus products is included in Vision 2.6 which eliminates several time consuming manual processes, enabling ASC staff to spend more time focusing on day-to-day activities.  SourcePlus Passport eliminates the need to manually contact patients by allowing patients to complete their pre-op information online from the privacy of their own home prior to their surgical event.  This new integrated product offers facilities a great opportunity for enhanced patient satisfaction, as well as a new way to increase clinician productivity and efficiency.  
 
In addition, SourcePlus PurchaseConnection (PCX) eliminates the need to contact individual vendors, fill out all of the necessary forms and manually submit orders for processing by streamlining the ordering process.  PCX vastly improves purchase order speed and accuracy by allowing facilities to submit purchase orders to participating vendors within the PurchaseConnection Portal. The PurchaseConnection portal will electronically route the purchase orders to the appropriate vendors.
